James Ghrist Obituary

James Taylor "Jim" Ghrist, husband of the late Sandra "Sandi" Ghrist, of Taylors, died Thursday, May 22, 2025.
Born in Washington, PA, he was a son of the late William Dempsey Ghrist, Jr. and Margaret Grace Rumiser Ghrist.
Jim was a Registered Professional Engineer (electrical engineering). He was a graduate of West Virginia University (BSEE) and The University of Pittsburgh (MBA).
Jim had a wide-ranging career with engineering firm Black & Veatch, including multi-year overseas residences, with Sandi, in Saudi Arabia, Bangladesh, and Egypt, as well as numerous domestic locations. Since 1996 he was on the staff of Utility Technology (UTEC) in Spartanburg.
Jim had a great love of and talent for golf, which he was able to pursue even during some of his overseas assignments. He particularly enjoyed golfing with his senior friends, the Golden Boys of Pebble Creek Golf Club in Taylors. He also had wonderful golfing vacations with cousins, Carole Zeiders and Rob and Brenda Zeiders.
Jim was a member of St. James Episcopal Church, where he served as Treasurer and member of the Vestry.
Jim is survived by his brother, William "Bill" Ghrist and his wife Margaret "Peg" and by several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Resurrection Liturgy will be held on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. James Episcopal Church.
