James Finley Obituary

James L. Finley, 77, beloved husband of the late Martha Finley, went home to Heaven on Saturday, September 20, 2025. Born in Greenville County, he was the son of the late Woodrow and Caroline Greer Finley. James was a faithful member of Cedar Lane Baptist Church. He worked for J.P. Stevens at the Monaghan Plant for 25 years and later retired from Greenville County High School after 12 years of dedicated service. He was a true sports enthusiast who enjoyed cheering on the South Carolina Gamecocks on Saturdays and watching NASCAR on Sundays. Known for his strong work ethic, unwavering faith, and deep devotion to his family, James was a wonderful father and grandfather whose love and presence will be dearly missed. He is survived by daughter Vickie Finley; grandson, Nicholas Vaughan, both of the home; granddaughter, Jessica Carter of Easley; three sisters, Joyce Tollison (Maxie), Judy Roper, and Mary Wright. In addition to his beloved wife and parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Billy, Johnny, Charles, and Robert Finley. A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 26, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
