Irene Ponce Obituary

Irene Mitro Ponce, 84, wife of the late Angelo J. Ponce, died Friday, April 25, 2025.
Born in New York City, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Anna (Pollack) Mitro.
As a parishioner, former choir member, and retired bookkeeper for Prince of Peace Catholic Church she was active in church ministries and the community. Irene was also a long-time member of the YMCA.
She is survived by her two sons, Joseph and Jonathan Ponce; daughters-in-law, Renee and D'Arcy; sister, Ethel Humienny; grandchildren Lauren, Joseph III, Andrew, and Jessica; niece, Laurel Boeschen; nephews Robert, Thomas, Mark and their children.
A Rosary service will be held on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. followed by a visitation beginning at 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Downtown. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on at 12:00 p.m. Friday, May 2, 2025, at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Taylors, S.C.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grenville Humane Society or Prince of Peace Catholic Church.
