Gloria Worthington, a beloved wife and mother, passed away on Saturday, August 2, 2025 at her home. Born in Goldsboro, North Carolina, on June 21, 1937, she was a daughter of the late Leon and Elsie Bryan.
Gloria's nurturing spirit shone brightly throughout her career as a dedicated nurse In Goldsboro, NC, Anderson, SC, and later as a school nurse at Woodmont High School. Her compassion and commitment to caring for others left a lasting impact on countless lives.
A long-time member of Trinity United Methodist Church, and more recently of Mauldin Methodist Church, Gloria was a beacon of faith and community involvement. Her vibrant personality touched many, and her passions were evident in her gardening, canning, and exquisite flower arrangements. She cherished moments spent dancing and attending social events, sharing joy and laughter with family and friends.
Gloria is survived by her loving husband, David Worthington; her sons, Bryan Worthington, Anthony Worthington and his wife Gwen; grandchildren Brooke McClaran and her husband, Grant, and Blair Elliott and her husband Myles,; great-grandchildren Elizabeth Blake Elliott, Beckham McClaran, and Hampton Elliott. She also leaves behind her sisters, Janet Warrick, Joyce Warren, and Donna Kornegay, who will carry her spirit with them always.
In addition to her parents, Gloria was preceded in death by a sister Deborah Lane.
Gloria's family and friends will gather at Mauldin Methodist Church for a time of visitation on Friday, August 8, 2025 from 10:00 a. m. until 10:45 a.m. and the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Entombment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.
For many years, Gloria faced the challenges of Parkinson's Disease with grace and resilience. The family is eternally grateful for the care and compassion Gloria received through the years from her devoted caregivers. Dr. Peter Maurides and his staff at Internal Medicine Associates of Greenville provided extraordinary lifelong care to Gloria. In her memory, the family kindly requests that contributions be made to
