Gloria Renette James King "Renette" or "Boo", 83, devoted wife of Raymond Edwin "Eddie" King, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, July 1, 2025.
Renette held her family dear and she will be remembered by her unwavering spirit, her kindness and compassion, and her devotion to our Lord Jesus.
She was a daughter of the late Fred Ford and Mary Alice Brinkley James, a graduate of Virginia High School class 1960, and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church for 50+ years. She was born and lived in Bristol, until a recent move to
Greenville, SC.
She met her husband through mutual friends at Trayers Too restaurant. They shared a sweet courtship and were married by her childhood minister in 1964. Through their lasting love they raised three faithful children, Marcia Harrison (Scott) of
Greenville, SC, David King (Jennifer) of Tucson, AZ and Kristie Cox (Randy) of Marietta, GA; and have three adored grandchildren, Jordan Cox, Raygan and Brinkley King. Renette took immense pride in her role as a mother and grandmother, loving every moment she spent with them.
Renette's employment took her from working in her mother's diner, Mother's Restaurant, Sperry/Unisys, Bristol Floral and retirement from Leonard Roofing.
Renette was known for her fun-loving spirit, enjoyed her yard, visiting her Montrose Drive neighbors, and always her family.
Her legacy of love and laughter will be remembered in the hearts of her surviving sisters, Betty Stinnett and Nancy Leonard. Her many nieces and nephews and her "sister/daughter", Claudia Jo Beach.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Marvin, Fred Jr, and Charlie James.
A memorial Service will be held on Sunday, July 6, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church in Bristol, VA.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church of Bristol, VA
