Obituary For Florence Cortese

Florence Cortese, a devoted homemaker and beloved matriarch, passed away peacefully on August 3, 2025, in Staten Island, NY. She was 94 years old.

Born in Brooklyn, NY, on April 4, 1931, Florence was a talented seamstress who dedicated her life to creating a warm and loving home for her family. A woman of deep faith, she was a longtime parishioner of Our Lady Queen of Peace.

Florence was the beloved wife of Achille Cortese, who preceded her in death in July 2020. Her legacy lives on through her children: Rosanne Stasi and her husband Vincent; Diane Forst and her husband Arve; and Frank Cortese and his wife Astrid.

She was a cherished grandmother to Christine and her husband John, Joseph and his wife Elise, Vincent, Nicholas, Jacqueline, James, Michael, Vanessa and her husband Kevin, and Jenna. She was also a proud great-grandmother to John, Jolie, Connor, and Corrina.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at the wake, which will be held at Hanley Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 6th, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM. A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady Queen of Peace on Thursday, August 7th, at 9:30 AM, followed by burial.

Florence will be remembered for her unwavering love, strength, and dedication to her family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
