Elizabeth Brewton Obituary

Mary Elizabeth Fryer Brewton, wife of 30 years to the late Dan Larry Brewton who was the joy of her life, died Monday, May 5, 2025, at the age of 80.
She was born April 13, 1945, in Athens, Georgia, daughter of the late Joseph William Fryer and Mary Shackelford Fryer. She was a graduate of Tarboro High School in1963 and a graduate of Wilson School of Nursing in 1966. Her fun experience in life was as an Air Force Flight nurse, with the rank of Captain. Her real calling in life was the 28 years at Shriner's Hospitals for Children, from which she retired in 2009. After 10 years of retirement, Elizabeth found a second work family, in the staff of the Restore of Habitat for Humanity in Taylors, South Carolina. They gave her much more than she could ever give to them.
Surviving are her loving cousins, David Lamar Shackelford (Kay) of Las Vegas, Nevada, Angie Stevens Wood (Merle) of Vinton, Virginia, Billie Rene Stevens Link (Tommy) of Watkinsville, Georgia, and Huey Patman of Athens, Georgia.
A Celebration of Life will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday, May 10, 2025, at The Episcopal Church of The Good Shepherd, Greer, South Carolina, conducted by Rev. Leslie Ferguson Horvath.
A private burial will be held at the Shackelford family plot in Winterville Cemetery, Winterville, Georgia.
In lieu of flowers, Elizabeth request's that memorials may be made to Shriner's Hospitals for Children, 950 West Faris Road, Greenville, South Carolina 29605 or The Episcopal Church of The Good Shepherd, 200 Cannon Street, Greer, South Carolina 29651.
