Elaine Thames Obituary

Patsy "Elaine" Thames was called home by her Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, March 30, 2026.

Elaine was born on March 19, 1952, in Greenville, South Carolina. She lived a life rooted in faith, love, and devotion to her family and community.

She was preceded in death by her father, Ralph Smith; her mother, Sweedie Smith; and her brother, John Finley.

Elaine leaves behind her beloved sister and best friend, Ruth Smith; her brothers, Richard Finley (Joyce) and Leonard Finley (Amelia, deceased); and her cherished nephew, who was like a son to her, Jason Cox (Lisa), along with their children, Emma and Riley; numerous nieces and nephews.

Elaine shared an extraordinary and unbreakable bond with her sister, Ruth. More than sisters, they were lifelong best friends who stood by each other through every season of life. Elaine was deeply devoted to Ruth, offering constant love, strength, and companionship. Their relationship was filled with laughter, unwavering support, and a closeness that will forever be cherished.

Elaine had a deep love for her church family and was a devoted member of Harmony Fellowship Church. She found great joy in worship, fellowship, and serving others.

She will be remembered for her kind heart, unwavering faith, and the love she shared so freely with those around her. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love and devotion will live on in all who knew her.

A celebration of life will be held at Harmony Fellowship Church in Greer on Friday, April 3, 2026 beginning at 1:00 pm. The family will receive friends following the service. Elaine will be buried at Cannon Memorial Park following the visitation.
