Edward Templin Obituary

Edward Arthur Templin, 82, devoted husband of 35 years to Sheila Templin, passed away on Sunday, November 23, 2025.
Born in Ridgefield Park, NJ, he was the son of the late Edward "Ed" and Phoebe Schultz Templin.
Lovingly known as "Edd" to differentiate between him and his dad, Ed, lead a remarkable journey through a life marked by love, adventure, and an unwavering passion for the great outdoors.
Edd, along with his first wife Jane, raised their two daughters in White Meadow Lake, NJ. Edd taught his daughters and later his grandchildren to appreciate simple pleasures; catching fish on the lake, gazing at stars from their deck, walking along wooded park trails, taking Sunday drives, and going to Disney night at the Drive-In movie theater. Cherished memories include camping "off the grid" with extended family in the Catskill mountains and playing competitive card games including Edd's favorite game of Poker.
Edd and Sheila met at a Parents Without Partners event. Their serendipitous encounter blossomed into a beautiful love story; he bravely asked her to dance and, not long after their first date in April, asked for her hand in marriage. In a testament to their unique bond, Edward and Sheila eloped in September 1990, sharing their joyful union with family only after saying their vows.
In retirement, Edd and Sheila embraced a life of exploration, selling their home to embark on a journey across the United States in their beloved RV, affectionately named "Baby." For nearly a year and a half, they delighted in the breathtaking sights of the country, often reminiscing about having the time of their lives with the wonderful memories they created during their travels.
Edd had a deep appreciation for nature, finding solace and joy in camping and hiking. He could often be found enthusiastically identifying various trees and flowers. This passion led him to the Cornell University Bird Watching Group, where he became an inspiration to friends and neighbors alike, encouraging them to join him in observing the wonders of the avian world.
Edd's love for exploration did not end there. He and Sheila shared countless blissful experiences cruising to breathtaking destinations, including Alaska, traversing the Panama Canal, and sailing past the stunning landscapes of South America with friends and family. Those who knew Edd will remember him for his adventurous spirit, warm-hearted nature, and the joy he brought to every gathering.
His memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of his wife, Sheila, loving children, Dawn Praschak (Steve Schmidt), Kim Zalepa (Todd), Julie Blackburn (Sheldon), James Richmond (Anastasia); eight adoring grandchildren, Bridget and Mikaela Zalepa, Douglas and Rebecca Praschak, Colin and Kaitlin Blackburn, Heather and Laurel Richmond; sister, Maryann Rettino (David); and his beloved kitty, Penny.
In addition to his parents, Edd was preceded in death by his sister, Lee Templin.
A service to celebrate his wonderful life will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church with a reception to follow.
