Dorothy Young Obituary

Dorothy Lee Young, affectionately known as "Dot," was born on September 17, 1956, in Spartanburg, South Carolina, to the late Lizzie Mae Tate Davis and the late Allen Davis, Jr. She was educated in the Spartanburg County School System. Dorothy was a woman whose kindness and gentle spirit touched everyone she met. She was loving, sweet, outgoing, and full of life. Her nurturing nature made her a motherly figure not only to her own family, but to many who were blessed to know her. She had a heart that cared deeply, always offering encouragement, compassion, and strength to those in need. Dorothy had a passion for gardening, finding peace and joy in tending to the beauty of nature. She also loved animals, especially her pit bulls, who were truly a part of her family. She was a natural caregiver, brave, tough, and resilient, yet soft and tender in her love. Her vibrant personality was reflected in her love for the latest music, and she enjoyed staying connected to the rhythm of life through song and laughter. A devoted fan of the San Francisco 49ers, Dorothy never missed a chance to cheer on her team. Her favorite color, blue, symbolized her calm yet powerful spirit, steady, peaceful, and strong. She was preceded in death, along with her parents, by her husband, James A. Young, and siblings, Mary A. Boyd, Debra Davis, Allan E. Davis, Michael Davis, and Ricky Davis. Left to cherish her life and love are her sons, James Young and Kingston Davis, both of the home; nieces reared in the home, Tekeyia Utsey and Kimberly Davis of Spartanburg, South Carolina; siblings, Deloris Davis of Greer, South Carolina, Jerry Davis of Columbia, South Carolina, Theresia (Leon) Mills of Spartanburg, South Carolina, and Marcellous Davis of Spartanburg, South Carolina; aunt, Geraldine Brewton of Moore, South Carolina; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. On Monday, October 20, 2025, Dorothy Lee Young transitioned at Spartanburg Medical Center. She will be remembered for her radiant smile, her generous heart, and her ability to make everyone feel loved and valued. Her legacy of kindness, strength, and joy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. To send flowers to the family, please visit our floral store.
