Dorothy King Obituary
Dorothy Elizabeth King, 95, loving wife of 52 years to the late Alvin "Buster" King, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 8, 2025.
Born in Greer, South Carolina, Dorothy was a daughter of the late John and Nellie Watson Quinn.
She was a woman of deep faith and commitment, first as a member of Crosswell Baptist Church and later a devoted member of Wren Baptist Church, faithfully following her beloved pastor, Rev. J. Harold Sanders.
Dorothy's unwavering love for her family was a guiding force throughout her life. She was known for her selflessness, always placing the needs and well-being of her loved ones above her own. Her compassion and strength were a source of comfort and inspiration to all who knew her.
She was employed for many years at Brandon Mill and later retired from Michelin, where she was known for her strong work ethic and kind spirit.
Dorothy is survived by her son, Alan Dale King (Tammy Tyre); two daughters, Tammie Clark (William) and Tracy Welchel; six grandchildren, Stephanie Sternett (Scotty), Chad Tyner (Cassie), Candice Welchel, Brady King (Krissy), and Logan Clark; 11 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Glenda Gilbert, Patricia Scott and Mary Humphries. and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, John Quinn Jr., Charles Quinn, and Billy Quinn; and four sisters, Betty Sanders, Aileen Knighton, Geraldine Wright, and Shirley Williams.
Dorothy's legacy of love, faith, and dedication to her family and church community will be cherished and remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Northwest. The funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, September 12, 2025, in the chapel. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery West.
