Donald Coker Obituary

Donald R. Coker, 88, husband of the late Jewel Yvonne Mize Coker, passed away September 20, 2025. A native of Taylors, South Carolina, son of the late Roy O. and Grace Coker. He was a star athlete at Taylors High School where he graduated in 1954. Don then went on to graduate from Spartanburg Methodist College and from there he started a several decades-long career with WCRSA which later became Re-Wa where he worked well into his mid seventies and was a mentor to many. Don was an avid Gamecock fan who enjoyed traveling to the home games with his twin brother well into their seventies. He loved to play golf with his friends and participate in senior tournaments until his recent illness. He was of the Baptist faith and was a member of East North Street Baptist Church for many years. Surviving are two daughters, Melissa Coker of Taylors and Heather Alford of Greer; a grandson, Tristan Alford; and his beloved twin brother, Ronald Coker of Taylors. Mr. Coker was predeceased by three brothers, Roy Coker, Charles Coker, and Bill Coker; and a sister. Mary O' Dell. A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 27, 2025, at The Wood Mortuary Chapel conducted by Dr. Keith Kelly.
