David Gambrell Obituary

David Ellis "Diamond Dave" Gambrell, 78, passed away August 21, 2025. A native of Greer, South Carolina, son of the late Ralph Carlos and Mary Jeanette Long Gambrell, he served in the S.C. Army National Guard, was a retired firefighter for the City of Greer, and a member of Greer First Baptist. Surviving are a son, Richard Gambrell (Kelly) of Mill Spring, North Carolina; three brothers, Steven Gambrell (Elizabeth), Gerald Gambrell, and Danny Gambrell all of Greer; and a granddaughter, Ginny of Mill Spring, North Carolina. He was predeceased by a son, Craig Gambrell and two sisters-in-law, Linda Gambrell and Marie Gambrell. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 24, 2025, at The Wood Mortuary conducted by Rev. Tony Stewart. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Sunday, August 24, 2025, at The Wood Mortuary. The family is at their respective homes. Memorials may be made to Upstate Community Hospice House, 260 Fairwinds Drive, Landrum, South Carolina 29356. Online condolences may be made at www.thewoodmortuary.com.
