David Childress Obituary

David Charles Childress, 96, husband of the late Agnes Childress, passed away July 14, 2025. A native of Greer, son of the late Franklin James and Alice Blanchette Childress, he retired from United States Air Force after 21 years, was a local businessman, and a member of El Bethal Baptist Church. Surviving are two sons, David "Chuck" Charles Childress, Jr. (Kym) of Easley, South Carolina and Chris Childress (Tammy) of Greer, South Carolina; two grandchildren, Martha Childress of Greenville, South Carolina and Workman Childress (Morgan) of Simpsonville, South Carolina; three step grandchildren, Jordan Janushkowsky (Jordan) of San Pedro, California, Jacob Burgess (Isabela) of Piedmont, South Carolina, and Hunter Burgess of Taylors, South Carolina; a great-grandson, Shepherd Childress; and eight step great-grandchildren. Mr. Childress was predeceased by two brothers, Paul Childress and Bill Childress. A graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 18, 2025, at Wood Memorial Park with military honors conducted by Mr. James Eleazer. Visitation will be held after the service at the gravesite. Online condolences may be made to www.thewoodmortuary.com.
