Cristy Dowdy Obituary

Cristy Lynn (Rackley) Dowdy, 50, of Greenville, SC, beloved wife of Michael James Dowdy, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday, August 28, 2025. Born on February 19, 1975, in Greenville, SC, Cristy was the cherished daughter of Tim and Lynn Rackley of Greenville. Cristy was of the Baptist faith and shared a strong belief of Christ. Cristy attended Monaview Elementary, Parker Middle School, and Berea High School. Cristy developed a deep passion for volunteering for many years with the students of Monaview Elementary. Some of her favorite pastimes were racing, playing cards, casinos, bingo, and fellowshipping with family and friends. Cristy will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her radiant joy, and her selfless love. No matter the circumstance, she always kept her faith and love of people. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, treasured daughter, beloved sister, and friend whose legacy of faith and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. In addition to her husband and parents, Cristy is survived by her son, Logan; her daughter, Jenna (Monteraye); her grandkids, Nova and Mia; her brother, Bryan Rackley (Melissa); her mother-in-law, Wanda. Cristy; and is also survived by her beloved nephew, Jeffrey Brooks; aunts, Dawn Brooks (Nathan) and Melody Hatley (Gary); and her uncle, Lee "Bobo" Thompson, in addition of numerous nieces and nephews that she loved greatly. A visitation will be held Sunday, August 31, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Northwest, with a celebration of life to follow at 3:00 p.m. in the Northwest Chapel.
