Cleo Julian passed away peacefully on May 10, 2025, at the age of 95, in Greenville, South Carolina. Born on March 10, 1930, Cleo attended elementary and middle school in Atlanta, Georgia later returning for a diploma from Wendell Phillips High School in Chicago, Illinois.
Her early working years were spent in Atlanta as a short order cook, perfecting southern-styled cuisine. She continued her culinary journey in Chicago, serving the Chicago Public School System for over 35 years before retiring. Her cooking brought joy not only in professional kitchens but also within her church community at Christian Fellowship Baptist Church on Chicago's south side, where she was a devoted member of the Usher Board.

Cleo was a beloved mother, aunt, and grandmother. She is survived by her daughters, Yvonne Julian, Beatrice Julian, and Mrs. Theona Julian Brown (Anthony), all residing in Greenville, South Carolina; her niece, Barbara Jean Houston; and a loving array of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James F. Julian, Sr.; her son, James Julian, Jr.; her daughter, Evelyn Thomas; and sister, Ardivee Glenn.
