Christine Whitley Obituary

Christine Kaub Whitley of Greer On Monday, August 25, 2025, loving wife, mother and grandmother, departed for her heavenly home, surrounded by family. Born on January 15, 1941, in Chicago, Illinois to Josef and Agnes Kaub, Chris graduated in 1962 from Loyola University with a degree in elementary education. In 1965, while teaching in the Department of Defense system in Germany, she met her husband-to-be, Bob. For the next two decades, she and Bob resided in numerous stateside and overseas locations with the US Army, which included occasional teaching positions both stateside and in Saudi Arabia. Upon their move to Greenville in 1989, Chris became active as a community volunteer with the St. Francis' hospital system, Habitat for Humanity's Women Build program, and Greenville Literacy. Chris was also a long-time respect-life advocate at Prince of Peace Catholic Church. She and Bob enjoyed their years of golf, skiing, trail bike riding, and international travels with friends. Chris is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Bob, son Todd and wife, Heather; grandson, Griffith, and granddaughter, Paige. A service to celebrate Chris' wonderful life will be held promptly at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Downtown with a gathering of friends to follow. As Chris would want everyone to be comfortable, please dress as you would for a casual day in the office. A Mass to Celebrate Chris will be held on Friday, September 5, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Inurnment to take place in the family plot in TN. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Habitat for Humanity of Greenville by visiting www.habitatgreenville.org.
