Cecil Worley Obituary

Cecil Ray Worley, Sr., a cherished husband, father, and grandpa, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at the age of 86. Born on December 15, 1938, to the late Horace and Emma Worley. Cecil was a proud 1957 graduate of Parker High School. He dedicated 36 years of his life to the transportation industry, ultimately retiring as a Safety Manager, a position that reflected his commitment to ensuring the well-being of others. Cecil was married for 64 years to his beloved wife, Iva Louise Ann Worley. Together, they nurtured a loving family, which includes their daughter, Debra Worley; their son, Cecil Ray Worley, Jr.; and two cherished grandchildren who knew him as "Papa." A devoted member of Lee Road Baptist Church, Cecil was deeply embedded in his community and lived out his faith through service and support. He was a passionate sports enthusiast, particularly fond of football. Cecil enjoyed an active role in coaching his son in the Pop Warner Football League and was a lifelong supporter of the South Carolina Gamecocks. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Ann Worley; daughter, Debra Worley; son, Cecil Ray Worley, Jr., and his wife, Michelle; grandchildren, Lauren Worley and Jacob Worley; sister, Henrietta Johnson; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Cecil was preceded in death by his sister, Jean Fain. A visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until 1:15 p.m. on Monday, April 28, 2025, at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Downtown, 639 N. Main St., Greenville, SC 29601, followed by the funeral service at 1:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow the service in Greenville Memorial Gardens, 7784 Augusta Rd., Piedmont, SC 29673.
