Cathy Tew Obituary

With heavy hearts, we share the passing of our beloved Cathy Tew on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at the age of 69. Cherished wife, devoted mother and grandmother, faithful friend, and "second mom" to many. Cathy's unforgettable laughter, contagious smile, kindness, deep strength, eternal optimism, and unwavering love touched every soul she encountered. To know her was to love her and to be loved. She was truly an angel on earth and a bright light to everyone she met. Her favorite times were spent with her friends and family, especially on the beach, usually dancing, laughing, and truly loving life. Cathy fiercely loved her family. Her husband Stan was the love of her life; and her children, Stephanie, David, Jen, and grandson, Noah, were her greatest joys. She also leaves behind her brother, Roger Lusk who always kept her laughing and amplified her joyous love for life, along with his wife Deborah, and nieces and nephews. She is reunited in heaven with her parents, Paul and Ruby Lusk. And in the words of Ruby, they are "dancing on the clouds" now. A visitation will be held Saturday, June 14, 2025 from 11:30 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Southeast followed by the Celebration of Cathy's Life at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel. Cathy left way too soon. For now, we can take comfort in knowing she is with the God she knew and loved deeply, riding on the clouds with her loved ones. We know that she is happy and carefree, and we will meet her in heaven someday soon. Until then, we all hold her spirit close and lean on God's grace to carry us through. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight" Proverbs 3: 5-6 Friends are encouraged to share their favorite memories of Cathy with the family by clicking on the button labeled "Share A Memory". Stan, David and Stephanie,

Sending our deepest condolences on the sudden passing of your beloved Cathy. She was a ray of sunshine and my first interaction with a true Southern belle. When we moved into Kimball Farms we were 35 - and boy did we all have the times of our lives. All innocent fun but we were lucky to not have to leave the neighborhood for anything. We were all transplants and we all took care of each others kids because none of us had family nearby. A truly special time that we all cherish. Take comfort in your wonderful memories of Cathy and remember she will always be in your hearts. Much love , Terry and Sheryl Thomas

My thoughts and prayers are with all of the family and friends whose life was enriched by Cathy's beautiful spirit. Knowing someone for 60 years is a long time. I remember as a child her laughter, smile and the love for dancing. Lots of 45's were played on her childhood home withuaic blaring and us dancing. Over the years we kept in touch and even though many years passed there was always that special place in my heart for her. I will continue to think of her especially on leap year. Laugh on my friend and dance with the angels. One day we will meet again.
