Catherine Brockman Obituary

Catherine Hester Brockman, 98, of Greenville, widow of James (Jim) Lathem Brockman passed away on August 1, 2025. Born in Greenville, she was a daughter of the late William Thomas Hester and Ruth Huff Hester. Mrs. Brockman accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior in 1935 and was an active member of Berea First Baptist Church, serving as Sunday School teacher for over 77 years and on the cemetery committee. She was retired from the U.S. Department of Agriculture - Agriculture Stabilization and Conservation Service. She is survived by three daughters, Anne Shoop and her husband Jay of Marietta, GA, Judy Nabers of Greenville, and Ruth Parris and her husband Hal of Greenville; five grandchildren, Farrah Shoop Gamel and her husband Corey, Lynn Shoop and his wife Meredith, Elizabeth Nabers Lewis and her husband Paul, Wilson Parris and Thomas Parris; eight great grandchildren Logan Shoop, Summer Shoop, Bree Shoop, Owen Gamel, Catherine Gamel, Nell Lewis, Sam Lewis and Ben Lewis; sister-in-law, Shirley Hester; and nieces Lorraine Lawson, Linda Hester, Sandra Brockman and their families. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, William (Bill) Thomas Hester, Jr., and son-in-law Ed Nabers. The family would like to especially thank her caregivers, Peggy Dacus, Sandra Draft, Hilary Torres and Agape Hospice Care. A visitation will be held Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. - 1:15 p.m. at Berea First Baptist Church with the funeral service to follow at 1:30 p.m. in the sanctuary. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Berea First Baptist Church at https://www.bereafbc.org/give/ or Samaritan's Purse at https://www.samaritanspurse.org/our-ministry/donate-online Friends are encouraged to share their favorite memories of Catherine with the family by clicking on the button labeled "Share A Memory."
