Carolyn Stewart Obituary

Carolyn Dixon Stewart, 86, formerly of Waycross and Jonesboro, Georgia passed away on August 21st, 2025 at Cadence Memory Care in Chandler, AZ. While she lived most of her life in Atlanta; Mrs. Stewart had been living in Phoenix, AZ for the past 34 years.
Born to Mozelle Martin Dixon, Carolyn spent her childhood in Waycross, GA with her grandparents, Lossie and Jennie Martin. Carolyn's formative college years were spent in Atlanta at Crawford-Long Nursing Hospital, where she began her decades long career within OBGYN as a Labor and Delivery Nurse.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Joseph Winthrop Stewart of Chattanooga, TN. The survivors include a son, Joseph Winthrop Stewart II (Jay) and his wife Glenda Terry Stewart of Phoenix, AZ; a daughter, Ceresa Lynn Stewart of Chandler, AZ; a granddaughter, Brittany Stewart Hayman and her husband, George Michael Hayman Jr. (Michael) of Savannah, GA; a grandson, Joseph Winthrop Stewart III (Tres) of Phoenix, AZ; and a great-grandson, Nathan Joseph Hayman (Nate) of Savannah, GA.
Carolyn or CeCe (her grandmother name that she preferred) was a member of the Jonesboro Country Club for many years. She spent much of her time during the 1970's & 1980's with friends and neighbors enjoying fishing and boating within the Lake Spivey community.
After retirement, CeCe discovered her love for other cultures, having loved to travel and experience all that the world had to offer. With trips to Kenya, South Africa, England, France, Switzerland, Mexico, Greece, Turkey, Italy, Israel, Egypt and Peru; she easily earned the world traveler title.
In her senior years, she was infatuated with the American Southwest and Coloradan Mountain ranges, having split her time between Durango, CO where she loved to ski and Phoenix, AZ where she loved to golf. CeCe relished in discovering her roots, as seen through her interest in her familial genealogy whereby, she discovered more within herself and this world than many discover in a lifetime.
Mrs. Carolyn Stewart's memorial service will be held at Music Funeral Home on August 30, 2025, at 10am with graveside service to follow afterward at Oakland Cemetery in Waycross, GA.
