Carol Schoening Obituary

Carol Schoening, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2025, at the age of 83. Born on December 23, 1941, in Charleston, South Carolina, Carol met her late husband, Klaus Schoening, Sr. on a Friday the 13th many years ago. As long as they were married, they always made it a point to celebrate anytime the 13th fell on a Friday. Her spirit will continue to resonate in the hearts of her family and friends. Left to cherish her memory are her son, Klaus Schoening Jr. and his wife, Susan Green Schoening; her granddaughters, Ashton Koss, Karson Childers, Lauren McDougall, and Hannah Kovarick; and her grandson, Dieter Schoening. Carol's pride and joy were further celebrated through her great-grandchildren, Aidan, Clare, River, and Hadley. Carol is also survived by her loving siblings, Ginny Ravenel, Billy Condon, Lawrence Condon, Nancy Meyer, Patricia Dittmeier, Peggy MacMillan, and Michael Condon, whose cherished memories of her will last a lifetime. Friends and family are welcome to pay their respects during the visitation at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Southeast, on Sunday, June 22, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. They will gather to honor her legacy during a Funeral Mass at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church on June 23, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. followed by a graveside service at M.J. "Dolly" Cooper Veterans Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. Friends are encouraged to share their favorite memories of Carol with the family by clicking on the button labeled "Share A Memory".
