Carol Wright Harris, beloved child of God, was peacefully set free on Friday morning, May 2, 2025, at the age of 72.
Born on April 3, 1953, in Mount Airy, NC, Carol was the only daughter of the late Clyde and Bernelle Wright. Her early years were spent playing on the family's tobacco farm where they also raised beagles and her deep love for animals was made evident.
In her teenage years, Carol moved with her family to
Greenville, SC and she went to Greenville High School. She had a talent for home economics which she used to make many of her daughters' clothes in their early years and cooking memorable meals throughout her life. She was also a skilled typist and was an excellent secretary at various companies over her career.
Her strong faith in God guided her through life's challenges, and she was known for her overcomer spirit and fearless demeanor.
Determined to make the most of what she had, her girls treasure memories of countless picnics enjoyed in local parks, along the blue ridge parkway, in Battery Park in Charleston, and one particularly memorable event in Hilton Head. There are also (now) hilarious vacation memories through the years including mom on pain meds lying on Myrtle Beach telling us (and all within earshot) to "look at the penguins!" when a flock of pelicans flew over...
Carol's vibrant and independent spirit brought warmth and laughter to all who knew her, often brightening the day with her beautiful smile, cute little laugh, sarcastic sense of humor, and one line "zingers" that were particularly enjoyed by her son-in-law.
Well known at her local library, Carol devoured books often reading more than one at a time. She loved to indulge in her favorite sweets and watch Hallmark movies. Several bottles of nail polish were regularly kept near where she sat on the couch and she was rarely seen without wearing (at least) lipstick, bracelets and dangle earrings. Her nurturing soul also gave her a green thumb and plants flourished under her care. She was known to have the same plant for decades.
She is survived by her beloved daughters, Amy Mosley (Mike) and Stacey Cothran; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; her brother, Philip Wright (Yolanda); cherished nieces, Lauren Nulph, Emily Pitt (Eric), Mesha Walts (Ian), Sydney Peterman (Trent), and Anna Wright; as well as several great nieces and nephews, beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins; precious decades-long best friends, Mary Alice Pinkley and Ann Johnson; and a host of other friends that she enjoyed. She also leaves behind her treasured fur baby, Sweetpea, second only (sometimes) to her daughters.
In addition to her parents, she was reunited in heaven with her baby brother, Dennis Wright; favorite uncle, Bob Wright; as well as cherished grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
As we celebrate Carol's extraordinary life, let us remember the beautiful legacy of love, laughter, and resilience she leaves behind. May her spirit continue to inspire us to embrace our own lives with the same vibrancy she embodied.
A celebration of life and picnic will be held Saturday, May 24, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. in the Rock Quarry Garden of Cleveland Park. Please wear vibrant colors and bring a lawn chair or picnic blanket and your (socialized) dog if you like.
We give thanks and praise to our Lord Jesus for His mercy and love in delivering her quickly. He turns graves into gardens and mourning to dancing. Hallelujah.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Greenville Humane Society or the Greenville Library system.
