Calvin Plemmons Obituary

Calvin "Slingshot" Plemmons Wellford, SC Calvin "Slingshot" Eugene Plemmons, 77, passed away on Thursday, October 02, 2025. Born in Spartanburg, he was the son of the late Luther B. and Geneva Hall Plemmons and the husband of Joyce Blackwell Plemmons. He was a veteran of the US Navy and was retired from Crown Cork and Seal in Spartanburg. He was an outdoorsman who loved deer hunting, carp fishing, animals, drinking coffee and spending time with his friends at the Waffle House. Calvin was a former member of Wellford Volunteer Fire Department. Survivors include a son, James Plemmons and wife, Wanda; two daughters, Sandra Farley and Rita Simmons and husband, William; ten grandchildren, Chance Plemmons, Madison Simmons (Robert Gregory), Taylor Simmons, Chyenne Poteat, Dillan Farley, Dakota Sewell (Libby), Ashley Stribling (Travis), Ann Marie Smith (Chris), Mark Hopper (Stephanie) and Mandy Hopper; and eleven great-grandchildren, Trevor, Kamryn and Ryder Stribling, Baily, Wendelyn and Abigail Smith, Alyssia, Melanie and Ella Hopper, Emily and Anna Crowe. He was predeceased by two brothers, Charles Thurmon Plemmons and Henry Plemmons. Funeral services will be held at 2:30PM on Tuesday, October 07, 2025, at The Bridge at Greer with Rev. Byron Morrell officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30PM until 2:30PM prior to the service. Interment will be held at Little Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery with Military Rites.
