Bill Bright Obituary

Bill E. Bright, 82, of Taylors, South Carolina, was gathered to the arms of Jesus on May 29, 2025. A native of Spartanburg County, South Carolina, born on April 9, 1943, son of the late James Crowell and Nannie Lou Burns Bright, he was a retired Lieutenant Corrections Officer with the S.C. Department of Corrections at Perry Institution, retiring at Livesay Correctional Center, and member of Our Savior Lutheran Church. Bill was officer of the year in the Southern States of South Carolina. He loved music but couldn't read music. He could be seen directing music from his wheelchair, not missing a beat. He loved to dance and talk. Bill was loved by all because he loved all. Surviving are the love of his life for 59 years, Sandra Styles Bright; two sons, David Bright of Moore, South Carolina and Tony Bright (Andrea) of Salem, South Carolina; a chosen daughter, Robin Tucker Forrest of Greer, South Carolina; seven grandchildren, Selena Forrest Warnke (Ryan), Tajun George, Tristen Bright (Kim), Laiken Johnson (DJ), Kennedy Bright (Colby Thomas), Jewell Beaty (Cole), and Carter Bright; and five great-grandchildren, Eliana, Wyatt and Haven Johnson, Emerson Bright, and Baby Bright due in October. Bill was predeceased by his sister, Martha Bright Tucker and a grandson, Adam Jared "AJ" Peterson, Jr. A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 21, 2025, at Our Savior Lutheran Church, conducted by Revs. Don and Beth Costlow with receiving of friends to follow. Visitation will be held 12:30 until 4:00 p.m. Friday, June 6, 2025, at the home, and Saturday, June 7, 2025, from 2:00 until 6:00 p.m. at the home.
