Beverly Jones Obituary
In Loving Memory of Beverly J. Jones
March 24, 1962 – July 24, 2025
With broken hearts, we announce the passing of Beverly J. Jones - a beloved wife, mother, Gramma, leader, and friend - who left us far too soon on July 24th, following a rapid and devastating battle with Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease. In just two short months, this cruel and rare illness took from us a vibrant, active woman whose life was built on love, integrity, compassion, and grace. While her body fell silent, her spirit never wavered.
Beverly is survived by her devoted husband of 37 years, Dan Jones, with whom she built a life rooted in love, partnership, and unwavering loyalty. She was the proud mother of Jeremy Jones and Autumn Hobgood, and mother-in-law to Savannah Jones and Dallas Hobgood. Known lovingly as "Gramma," she treasured every moment with her grandchildren, Colton and Charlotte, and she was joyfully awaiting the arrival of twin grandchildren this coming December - a blessing that brought her peace and light in her final days.
Professionally, Beverly was deeply passionate about her work and the people she led. As a manager, she was respected not only for her knowledge and dedication, but for the dignity and compassion she showed every member of her team. She treated her staff as an extension of her own family - with respect, encouragement, and heartfelt care. Even in her final role at GE Vernova, where she stepped back from formal leadership, she continued to extend kindness and grace to everyone she encountered.
Beverly was also known for her generous spirit - a spirit that often took the form of something warm from the oven. An avid baker, her signature Banana Nut Bread became a symbol of her thoughtfulness. She would bake dozens of loaves, sharing them with coworkers, friends, nurses, and anyone who might need a simple reminder that someone cared.
To know Beverly was to be embraced by love. Her legacy is not marked by the disease that took her, but by the countless lives she uplifted. Her laughter could ease any tension. Her wisdom calmed every storm. Her love made every room feel like home.
From Dan:
I will miss her smile, her sarcasm, and her physical presence in every place we once shared. We were planning a trip for our 38th anniversary this September. Instead, I'm holding on to 37 years of memories that I will treasure forever. She was my wife, my advisor, my partner, and my best friend.
Though her presence is gone, I will never have to miss her love - it lives on in my heart, always.
A service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Southeast Chapel. A gathering of friends and family will follow the service at the residence.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made, in Beverly's memory, to National Prion Disease Pathology Surveillance Center
Rest in peace, Beverly. You will always be in our hearts.
