Betty Jean Williams Obituary

Betty Jean Honeycutt Williams, 95, of Greenville, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 26, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was born on April 17, 1930, in Concord, North Carolina, to the late Joe and Maymie Honeycutt and was the last surviving of their seven children. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jerome Otis Williams. Betty is survived by her devoted son, Charles Albert Williams, and his beloved, Dawn Gossett; dear family members Dennis and Brenda Harrington; and her cherished grandchildren, Connor, Hank, and Eliza Grace Williams. A gifted artist, Betty was an accomplished concert pianist and operatic singer whose talent and passion for music were evident throughout her life. She performed with both the North Carolina and Charlotte Symphony Orchestras, traveling extensively and touching audiences with her remarkable voice and musicianship. Later in life, Betty found deep joy in teaching. She devoted herself to nurturing the next generation of musicians, offering piano and vocal lessons to hundreds of students over the years. Her enduring love of music was matched only by her kindness, patience, and unwavering generosity of spirit. A devout follower of Christ, Betty was a longtime member of All Saints Episcopal Church, where her faith remained a guiding light throughout her life. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, August 3, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the Swansgate Clubhouse in Greenville, South Carolina. A second service will take place in Concord, North Carolina in the weeks ahead, with details to follow. Both gatherings will offer an opportunity for friends and loved ones to come together, share memories, and honor Betty's life in the spirit of warmth and community. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the North Carolina Symphony, an organization that reflects Betty's lifelong devotion to music.
