Betty Timms Obituary
Betty Gertrude Timms, 82, beloved wife of 66 years to Clifford Timms, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 3, 2025.
Born in Pickens, SC, she was the daughter of the late Boyd and Inez Stone Rollins. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, a cherished Nanny, a wonderful mother-in-law, and loving sister.
Betty's life was centered on love - love for her family, her home, and the traditions that brought everyone together. She found great joy in the kitchen, where her cooking became a way of caring for those she cherished. Holidays were especially meaningful to her, and she made each one unforgettable with warmth, laughter, and meals that will be remembered for generations (especially her peanut butter cakes and dressing). Left-handed and often referred to as "Lefty," Betty also had a favorite saying, "Oh well," which reflected her gentle and grounded spirit.
She dedicated many years of service to Greenville County School District, where she worked with commitment and care. Her kindness touched many children, and countless others in the community.
Above all, Betty's proudest role was that of family matriarch. She was a guiding light to her 3 children, a beloved grandmother to her many grandchildren, and a treasured great-grandmother whose love and wisdom will be carried forward in their lives. Betty's legacy of love, faith, and family will live on in all who knew her.
Heaven gained another angel. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
In addition to her loving husband, she is survived by sons, Bobby Timms (Tammy) and Barry Timms; six grandsons, Brandon Timms (Amanda), Kyle Timms (Ashley), Jamie Timms, Blake Timms (Amelia), Michael Graves (Tosha), and Jonathan Graves (Madison); 19 great-grandchildren; sisters, Joyce Baker and Velma Hendricks; sister-in-law, Sue Rollins; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Deborah Graves, and brothers, Wayman Rollins and Larry Rollins.
A private graveside service will be held for the family. A public visitation will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2025, from 4:30 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. at Clearview Baptist Church, 5611 State Park Rd., Travelers Rest, SC 29690.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Foothills, https://hocf.org/.
