Betty Duncan Obituary

Betty Jo Duncan, 93, of Taylors, passed away on Sunday, August 24, 2025. Born on July 16, 1932, in Mountain Rest, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late James and Dempie Rochester. Betty was a beloved mother and friend, who had a warm spirit and love for others. She spent many years working in various customer service positions where she brought kindness and care into her work and the lives of those around her. Before her declining health, Betty loved passing time caring for her flowers, playing cards and coloring. Left to cherish her memory are her loving sons, Alan Hawthorne (Rita), Donald "Donnie" Ray Hawthorne, David Lee Hawthorne and Robert "Bobby" Jay Hawthorne (Evelyn); grandchildren, Chris Hawthorne, Heather Emory (Danny), Nathan Hawthorne (Jessica), Brent Hawthorne (Annie), Callen Hawthorne, Chad Hawthorne (Jamie), Ashley Tuorila (Tony), John Hawthorne (Lisa), Clint Hawthorne (Nicole), Dalton Hawthorne (Cali), John Hawthorne (Christy), 31 great children and 4 great great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her son, William "Gene" Eugene Hawthorne and daughter, Sandra Kay Hawthorne. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 29, 2025, in Woodlawn Memorial Park. Betty may be gone, but her spirit and the love she gave will always remain with us. We look forward to honoring her life and sharing memories of the joy she brought into our lives.
