Betty Cutchin Obituary

Betty F. Cutchin, wife of the late Walter Cutchin, went to be with the Lord on August 21, 2025, at the age of 100. Born on February 10, 1925, in Champaign, Illinois, Betty was the daughter of Arthur and Florence Wood. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Deborah Cutchin; her siblings, Charlotte Fisher and James Wood; and her great-grandson, Elias Iliyn. She is survived by her son, James Cutchin (Monica) of Eagle River, Alaska; her granddaughters, Taryn Iliyn (Paul) of Salem, Oregon, Taylore Cutchin of Chicago, Illinois, and Rylee Eckstein (David) of Gervais, Oregon; and her great-grandchildren, Reece and Raya Iliyn of Salem, Oregon and Lynnée Eckstein of Gervais, Oregon Betty lived a life marked by love, faith, and service. After graduating from Champaign High School, she worked for many years at the University of Illinois in clerical positions. More than her career, Betty was devoted to her family and her church community. Faith was the cornerstone of Betty's life. As a devoted member of Taylors First Baptist Church, she found joy in serving through music, fellowship, and volunteer work. She took part in the Co-Ed 10 Sunday School class, the Legacy Choir, the XYZ Senior Adult Group and the church media center. Betty's kindness, encouragement and faithful spirit touched the lives of all who knew her. She will be remembered with love by her family and many friends. The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday, September 18, 2025, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, 639 N. Main St., Greenville, S.C. A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 19, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, 639 N. Main St., Greenville, S.C., followed by burial in Taylors First Baptist Church Cemetery, 200 W. Main St., Taylors, S.C. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Taylors First Baptist Church, 200 W. Main Street, Taylors, SC 29687. Friends are encouraged to share their favorite memories of Betty with the family by clicking on the button labeled "Share A Memory."
