Betty Chapman Obituary

Betty Coates Chapman, 93, wife of T. Bruce Chapman, passed away on Saturday, August 30, 2025. Born on March 1, 1932, in Mountville SC, she was a daughter of the late Floyd P. Coates and Beatrice T. Coates. Betty graduated from Laurens High School in 1950 and married her beloved husband, T. Bruce Chapman, on September 22, 1951. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories. She was a devoted member of Rock Springs Baptist Church, where she actively participated in His Steps Bible Fellowship Class. Her unwavering devotion to her church and the many lives she touched will forever be remembered. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Thomas C. Chapman, and David Chapman of Easley SC; two grandsons, Justin Chapman of Easley SC, and Kyle Chapman of Liberty, SC; and great grandson, Elliott Chapman of Pickens. In addition to her family there are two special ladies she affectionately called her daughters Marilyn King and Judy Childers. She also had a special bond with Kyle Childers and Justin Childers whom she lovingly called her grandsons. Betty was predeceased by a grandson, John Chapman; sister, Doris Loun; and three brothers, J. Coates, Gerald Coates, and Bob Coates. A visitation will be held Thursday, September 4, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:15 a.m. at Rock Springs Baptist Church, with the funeral service to follow at 11:30 a.m. Burial will be private.
