Betty Chandler Anderson Sebastian Obituary

Betty Sue Sebastian, 90, of Greenville, widow of Donald B. Anderson after 48 years of marriage and her second husband, Richard G. Sebastian, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, July 7, 2025. Born in Simpsonville, Mrs. Sebastian was the daughter of the late Furman & Willie Katherine Brashier Chandler. She was a long-time member of First Baptist Simpsonville / Upstate Church. Sue dedicated her life to her family, friends and Jesus Christ. At an early age she took on responsibility for helping raise her younger brother. As she grew, she developed an uplifting spirit which included a loving smile, quick wit and just good common sense. There was no doubt she could and would get a job done. Gardening was a passionate hobby. Riding by her home, you were always treated with a view of nature at its best. The azaleas and other flowers and trees bloomed in all their glory. While raising her own children, her commitment to caring for her mom and both husbands until their deaths never waned. Her caring ways extended into the community through church and career. She worked side by side with Dr Eric Theis DDS, a lifelong close friend. Patients received the same care and attention as if they were family and they in turn cared greatly for her. Sue found great solace within her circle of friends in the Esther Sunday School Class where each member shared a love for Jesus and each other that ran deep in their souls. Sue will be greatly missed by all. Mrs. Sebastian is survived by her two children, Katherine Hemmert, and Donald Michael "Pete" Anderson and his wife, Gloria; four grandchildren, Blakely Michael Anderson (Breanne), Leslie Suzanne Hawkins (Steven), Chandler Berry Anderson, and Kyle Michael Paxton (Leigh); and nine great-grandchildren. In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Bill Hemmert; and three brothers, Wilton Maxwell Chandler, Billy Max Chandler, and Furman David Chandler. The funeral service will be held on Monday, July 14, 2025 at 2:00 pm in the First Baptist Simpsonville / Upstate Church Chapel, 3 Hedge St., Simpsonville. Interment in Cannon Byrd Memorial Park will be private for the family. The family will receive friends at the church starting at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to: Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org/sc The family is forever grateful to the staff at the Cascades Verde memory care unit and her hospice team who nurtured Sue as well as her family.
