Barbara Dendy Obituary

Barbara Bowen Dendy, 85, passed away April 30, 2025. A native of Greenville, South Carolina, daughter of the late Clarence Steele Bowen and Janie Bob Gaston, she was a retired school counselor for Greenville County Schools and a member of Nazareth Presbyterian Church, Moore, South Carolina. Surviving are two nephews, Randolph Ross Bowen, and Richard Steele Bowen (Carolyn). Ms. Dendy was predeceased by a brother, Clarence Steele Bowen, Jr. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 3, 2025, at The Wood Mortuary Chapel conducted by Dr. Gene Lockaby. Burial will follow in Nazareth Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held 9:30-10:45 a.m. Saturday, May 3, 2025, at The Wood Mortuary. Barbara's Honor Escorts will be the Jeanette Hood Sunday School Class. Dillon Hollifield will sing and play the piano. The family deeply appreciates the help and commitment of Ms. Dendy's caregivers Melody, Thania, Sandra, and Tia. For a second time, Pruitt Hospice was indispensable, and we thank Jamie, Tina, and Taylor. We will not forget what these caregivers did for Barbara. Memorials may be made to Fairview Baptist Church, 1300 Locust Hill Road, Greer, South Carolina 29651. Online condolences may be made to www.thewoodmortuary.com.
