Willie Simmons Obituary

Willie James Simmons died on September 8, 2019 in Georgetown, South Carolina. Funeral services were held on September 14, 2019 at Dickerson African Methodist Episcopal Church, Rev. Elsa B. Syndab, pastor.

Mr. Simmons was born on December 21, 1946, in Georgetown, SC, the eldest son of Harry Simmons and Josephine Simmons Dennison. Since early youth, he was a member of Dickerson A.M.E. Church. He was a graduate of Howard High School's Class of 1965. In 1966, Willie served his country admirably in the United States Army, and was bestowed a Purple Heart for his courage and conviction. He was honorably discharged in 1968. Willie attended Williamsburg Technical College, Kingstree, SC, where he obtained his General Contractor's License. He flourished in his profession as a business owner.

Surviving are his children, Andre Simmons, Charleston, SC, Malinda Green, Jacksonville, FL, Willie Simmons, Myrtle Beach, SC, Shonia Simmons, Antwan Simmons, and Shalene Logan all of Georgetown, SC, and Jamison Simmons of Clemson, SC; ten step-children; three brothers, James Simmons, Hinesville, GA, Perry Simmons, Alexandria, VA, Rodney Dennison, Fort Myers, FL; two sisters, Mary Pinckney, Charlotte, NC, and Barbara Brown, Georgetown, SC; his caretaker and friend of many years, Gladys Grayson, Georgetown, SC. Funeral services entrusted to Wilds Funeral Home, LLC.
