Thomas Kelley Obituary

Thomas J. Kelley, 74, passed away on March 22nd surrounded by his wife of 44 years, Susan and other family and friends in Dataw Island, South Carolina. Tom was born in Philadelphia, PA on January 12, 1952 to Agnes 8. Kelley and the Hon. Bernard J Kelley. Tom was raised in Philadelphia graduating from St.

Joseph's Prep (1969), Georgetown University (1973) and Villanova University (1976) with a degree in Law.

Tom began his law career as a clerk to the Honorable Joseph Guisz in the Philadelphia Common Pleas Court. Subsequently he joined the Travelers Insurance Company staff counsel initially in Philadelphia and ultimately with the Law Offices of Toolen, Ruane and Kelley in Blue Bell, PA. In 2001, Tom founded the Travelers Insurance staff counsel Law Offices of Thomas J. Kelley and Associates in Moosic, PA covering 24 counties in northeastern, Pennsylvania. Professionally, Tom was a very well respected trial attorney wherever he practiced in the State.

Tom and Susan loved to travel. They have been to all the lower 48 states except for Louisiana. Too bad Louisiana! Tom and Susan retired to Dataw Island near Beaufort, South Carolina in 2016. Tom loved to play golf both in South Carolina and in Ireland. He and Susan made many close friends while in retirement. Tom also became enamored with the history of the area and served as both head docent and a board member of the Beaufort History Museum.

Tom is survived by his brother Bernard J Kelley Jr and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother John P. Kelley Esq. and sisters Regina D. Flanagan and Kathleen A. Davis.

The family will receive friends on Monday, March 30, 2026 at 10am at St. Peter's Catholic Church.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, 70 Lady's Island Drive, Beaufort, SC 29907 at 11:00am On Monday, March 30, 2026. A Memorial Service and Internment will take place at a later date in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Wyoming, PA 19466.
