Theresa Calbi Obituary
Theresa Elizabeth Calbi, a beacon of love and intelligence, passed away at the age of 69 on June 29, 2025, in Beaufort, South Carolina, due to kidney failure. Born on March 26, 1956, in Washington, DC, Theresa's life was a testament to her thoughtful nature and dedication to her family, friends, and community.
Theresa's journey began as a cherished daughter of Bernard and Claire Carey, who predeceased her, as did her brothers Patrick and Michael Carey. Her light continued to shine bright as she grew alongside her loving siblings Bernard, Mary-Patricia, Kathleen, Joseph, Thomas, Christopher, and Claire. Theresa's foundational years in the nation's capital were marked by a warmth and zest for life that would define her in the years to come.
After completing her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration at Radford University in 1978, Theresa embarked on a distinguished 43-year career at AT&T, culminating in her role as Director of Business Development for Government Markets.
Theresa's heart found its match in David Calbi, her devoted husband, with whom she built a life rich in love and mutual respect for 44 years. Together, they raised their children, Jacqueline, Daniel, and Christopher, instilling in them the values of compassion and intelligence. Jacqueline and her husband Noah Rivers, Daniel and his wife Margaret Calbi, and Christopher Calbi carry forward her legacy of love and thoughtfulness.
A life both full and well-lived, Theresa found joy in the simple pleasures, such as playing croquet, engaging in spirited card games, baking delectable treats, and attending various sporting events. She had a particular fondness for walking, a pastime that allowed her to explore and discover new pizza places, much to the delight of her family and friends who often accompanied her on these culinary adventures.
Theresa will be remembered as a loving mother, a loyal sister, an intelligent colleague, and a thoughtful friend. Her presence was a gift to those who knew her, and her memory will be treasured in the hearts of many. She leaves behind a legacy of love, wisdom, and the gentle reminder to cherish the simple moments that make life beautiful.
As we bid farewell to Theresa Elizabeth Calbi, we celebrate a life that was lived with purpose and grace, a life that touched so many others in profoundly positive ways. She will be dearly missed, yet her spirit will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to have known her.
