Solon Dobbs Obituary

Solon Mack Dobbs, 91 of St. Helena Island, SC, passed away on Friday, August 1, 2025, at Beaufort Memorial Hospital. Graveside Services will be held on Friday, August 8, 2025, at the Beaufort National Cemetery with Military Honors beginning at 2 PM. Guests arriving for the Graveside are encouraged to be present at the Funeral Staging Area, located behind the cemetery office by 1:30 PM. Solon Mack Dobbs was born on July 23, 1934 in Fayette, AL, the son of the late Eddie Brondle and Celia Katherine (Key) Dobbs. Born into a large family, Solon was the fifth out of ten children. He married Vera Simmons, married to her for 66 years, she passed in September of 2021. Their son Joseph Dobbs also passed in January of 2022. Survivors are his children: son, Stanley Dobbs and wife Billie Jo Havlik and family of 4 kids and 6 grandkids. Son, Ronald Dobbs and wife Barbara Bolch and family of 2 kids and 4 grandkids, and daughter, Cynthia Dobbs- Poole. Sister, Betty Stival of Fayetteville, Arkansas. Sister, Joan Robson of Bella Vista, Arkansas and one brother, William D Dobbs of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. Solon served in the Air Force and coached the Air force basketball team then became a Proprietor of Dobbs Store for over 40 yrs. He loved to work around the home on the farm on his tractor. He enjoyed having fun, helping others and never met a stranger. He was loved by many. Lived a long and full life. He truly will be missed.
