Shaaron Lavery Obituary

Shaaron H. Lavery, a dedicated educator and passionate mathematician, lived a life marked by profound commitment to academic excellence and personal growth. Born on July 31, 1950, in New York, she pursued her love for mathematics at the State University of New York at Albany, earning both her bachelor's and master's degrees in the field by 1972. Her professional journey began with teaching in Great Barrington, Massachusetts, before finding her true calling at Linden Hall School for Girls in 1978. Over the next three decades, Shaaron would become an integral part of the school's fabric, serving in multiple roles including faculty member, Dean of Students, Assistant Head, and Interim Head of School. Colleagues and students alike remembered her for creating transformative educational experiences. Her classroom was a dynamic environment of intellectual curiosity, where students were encouraged to explore, question, and discover. Her leadership and teaching philosophy were characterized by grace, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to nurturing young minds. On May 15, 2025, Shaaron peacefully passed away in Okatie, South Carolina, after courageously battling vascular dementia. She is survived by her loving family: her mother Anita Benedict, husband Michael, daughter Diana Lavery-Regan, daughter-in-law Madelyn Regan, grandson Declan Regan, sister Susan Bender, brother-in-law Allan Bender, and niece Alyssa Russell. Her legacy of inspiration, academic rigor, and compassionate mentorship continues to influence generations of students and educators who were fortunate enough to know her with deep gratitude. Interment will take place in Harrisburg, PA at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family invites contributions to Linden Hall to support faculty and staff development, honoring Shaaron's 34-year legacy as an educator and mentor.
