Selena Cohen Obituary
Mrs. Cohen was born on November 15, 1946 in the Plantersville Community of Georgetown, SC, to Mr. James Funny, Sr. and Mrs. Sadie Grice Funny. She graduated from Choppee High School in 1965, and later married her high school sweetheart. Selena held several career positions including with an International Telemarketing Company in New Haven, CT, and Goodwill Industries, Hickory, NC. In early youth she joined Bethel A.M.E. Church where the family worshiped. She was a faithful member of St. Paul U.A.M.E. Church, New Haven, CT, Hartzell United Methodist Church, Hickory, NC. Selena was also actively involved in civic organizations throughout her community.
Surviving are her son, Deitrich Cohen, New Haven, CT; her father, James Funny, Sr., Georgetown, SC; her siblings, Janie Underwood and Pastor Betty F. Vereen both of Conway, SC, Nancy Funny, Stockbridge, GA, John Funny and Kennedy Funny, both of Atlanta, GA, Holly Funny of Conover, NC, Jocephus Funny, New York, NY and Willie Funny of Dallas, TX. Funeral services entrusted to Wilds Funeral Home, LLC.

We are deeply saddened by the unexpected passing of our neighbor, Selena. May God's peace and presence be with all the family. Being the first born, Selena was known for her honesty, empathy and good will toward others. She had good humor - even in trials. She enjoyed interacting as our "Moral compass". While we may feel diminished loosing a good friend, we thank God we are blessed to have known a spiritually phenomenal lady. Our sincere condolences, the Adetonas.
