Paul Simmons Obituary

Paul Soloman Simmons, 74 of Pawley's Island departed this life peacefully surrounded by his beloved family on January 25, 2020 in Frederick, MD. Born July 12, 1945 to the late Henry W. Simmons & the late Ella B. Gibson Simmons in Georgetown County, South Carolina. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Ella Simmons, Brothers Henry Lee (Thomisina) and Thurgood, and sister Sarah Bell Alston.

Paul was the 8th of 11 children growing up in Pawleys Island, SC. Paul graduated in 1964 from Howard High School in Georgetown South Carolina. After High School Paul went into the Army where he served a tour in the Vietnam War. where he was awarded the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, and Army Commendation Medal. Upon returning from the war, Paul moved to Washington, DC where he met and married Lillie Ann Wilson on November 9, 1968. To this union they had a daughter, Felita and a son Roderic. They lived in Wheaton, Maryland and Paul worked for the United States Postal Service for years until he retired in 2005 and moved back to Pawleys Island in 2006.

Paul will be remembered as a loving husband to his wife of 51 years Lillie Ann, father, and grandfather. Arrangements and Service are pending.
