Norman Wedgeworth Obituary

Norman Gary Wedgeworth, 80, beloved husband of Alberta Cooper Wedgeworth, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, January 11, 2020 at Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Wedgeworth was born the son of Lemuel Sylvester Wedgeworth and Vermell Jenkins Wedgeworth on February 10, 1939 in Laurel, Mississippi. He was a retired employee with International Paper Company where he was a member of the Pine Tree Club and the Quarter Century Club. He enjoyed working on cars, camping, fishing, and traveling - especially back to his hometown of Laurel, Mississippi. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family and grandchildren. You could always find "Wedge" and his friends early every morning at their little coffee shop (i.e. Newtons) laughing and greeting everyone with smiles.

Gary and Alberta were married on May 14, 1959 and celebrated 60 years together. Their home was blessed with: three children, Shirley Louise Cooper, Norman Gary "Buddy" Wedgeworth, II(Pam) and Stephanie Nicole Wedgeworth(Cody Phillips); eight grandchildren, Jason Patrick Tindall, Sr.(Gina), Anthony Harrell "Tony" Cox(Elissa), Kelly Cox Pope(Michael), Harrison Cameron Wedgeworth, Hatteras Christian Wedgeworth, Arwen Elizabeth Wedgeworth, Austin Cody Phillips, and Payton Nicole Phillips; eight great-grandchildren, Breanna, Jenna, Jay, Mattie, Spencer, Mason, Grayson, and Colton "Bug"; and two great-great grandchildren, Aurora and Aubrey. He is also survived by a sister, Shirley Ann Tisdale(Ernest) and two sister-in-laws, Mary Jo Wedgeworth and Geneva Wedgeworth.

He was predeceased by: his parents; a daughter, Shirley; and three brothers, Bonnie Willard Wedgeworth, Hilman Wedgeworth and Edward "Dusty" Wedgeworth.

A Home Going Celebration will be 11AM, Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at the Andrews Church of God, 310 N Morgan Ave., Andrews.

A reception honoring Mr. Wedgeworth will be held immediately after the service in the Church Family Life Center.

The Committal Service will follow at 1:30PM in the Andrews Memorial Cemetery directed by the Andrews Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home.
