Nina Pope Obituary

Nina Ruth Howard Pope, 74, the widow of Jimmy Earl Pope, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at the Roper Hospice Cottage.

Mrs. Pope was born the daughter of John Pratt Howard, Sr. and Getty Evelina Howard Howard, on April 23, 1947 in Andrews. She was born the 5th of seven children: Henry "Jackie" Howard, Emma Joann Blackwell, John Pratt Howard, Jr., Doris Howell, Johnny Elwood Howard, and Nora Lee Howard

She was a former employee of Hemingway Apparel and Denmar Distribution in Hemingway. She enjoyed fishing, dancing especially the shag, laughing, and being around people. Her greatest love was being a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, and caring sister. She was a member of Williams Hill Free Will Baptist Church.

She is survived by: two children, Richard "Ricky" Earl Pope (Heather) and Kenneth "Kenny" Wayne Pope (Michelle); ten grandchildren, Jonathan (Ashleigh), Richard (Kristin), Dalton "DJ", Leighton, Rebecca Joe "Becca", Lindsey, Taylor Stevens (Joel), Brittany, Amber, and April; and six great grandchildren, Mason, Noah, Hampton, Levi, Cross, Brailey, Pressely, and Briggs. She is also survived by: two sister-in-laws, Linda Howard and Glenda Howard; and a brother-in-law, Fred Howell.

She was predeceased by: her parents; her husband; a son, James Anthony "Tony" Pope; and her siblings and their spouses.

A Graveside Service will be 12PM, Friday, March 4, 2022 in the Williams Hill Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery directed by McKenzie Funeral Home.

The Pope family will receive family and friends 6-8PM, Thursday evening, March 3, 2022 in the sanctuary of Williams Hill Free Will Baptist Church.
