Myrtle Deas Obituary

Myrtle Deas, 87, died on January 9, 2017 in Pawleys Island, South Carolina. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 13, 2017 St. Mary African Methodist Episcopal Church where Reverend Rose Stokes-Smalls is pastor.

Mrs. Deas was born on December 11, 1929 in Pawleys Island, SC, to Mr. Tillman Thomas and Mrs. Victoria Blake Thomas. She was educated in Georgetown County schools and was a proud graduate of Howard High School's Class of 1950. She was a lifelong member of St. Mary A.M.E. Church where she served through the years in many capacities: Steward, Class Leader, Missionary, Choir Member and Church School Superintendent. She was united in holy matrimony to Mr. Isaac Deas, Sr. Together, they lovingly reared three children. Mrs. Deas was a homemaker and summer worker at Pawleys Island beach until she was widowed in 1975. She worked hard to insure that her three children all received college degrees.

Surviving are her daughters, Johnnie Deas, Pawleys Island, SC, and Linda Knox, Myrtle Beach, SC; her son, Isaac Deas, Jr., Columbia, SC; her siblings, Minnie Reid, Georgetown, SC, and Thildonia Kelly Thomas, Bridgeport, CT. Funeral services entrusted to Wild Funeral Home, LLC.
