He was a member of the Omar Shriners, the Masons and was a member of the Andrews First Baptist Church. For all who knew him, Mike's smile and laughter was contagious and his love never ending. He enjoyed dancing especially line dancing and the shag. His greatest enjoyment and love was his family. He was most proud to be called "G-Pop". He was a devoted husband, loving father, cherished "G-Pop", caring brother, and a faithful friend.

Mike and Ginger were married on June 28, 1975 and celebrated 42 years together. Their home was blessed with: two children, Dr. J. Ryan Altman and Marianne A. (Ryan) Jordan; and a granddaughter, Henley Ryann Jordan. He is also survived by: a brother, Allen E. (Melissa) Altman; two sisters, Wanda (Tommy) Cox and Barbara Elliott; a brother-in-law, Jim (Shelley) Ruffin; and his nieces and nephews, Calvin L. Elliott, Nickie C. (Tony) Talley, Rhett (Kammi) Cox; and Alexx E. Altman.

He was predeceased by: his parents; a sister, Judy Altman; and his in-laws, Mr. & Mrs. Samuel James "Jimmy" (Vera) Ruffin.
