Mattie Lou Brown Alston died December 2, 2018 in Georgetown, South Carolina. Funeral services were held on December 10, 2018 at Greater Gordon Chapel A.M.E. Church, Murrells Inlet, SC, Rev. Aundry Evans, Sr., pastor.

Mrs. Alston was born on June 6, 1938 in Georgetown County, SC, to Mr. James Brown and Mrs. Rachel Johnson Brown. She was educated in the Georgetown County Public School System. At an early age, she became a member of Greater Gordon Chapel A.M.E. Church. For nearly fifty years until retirement, Mrs. Alston was an excellent cook in the local food service industry of Murrells Inlet, SC, where she employed with Sea Captain Restaurant. In 1957, she was united in holy matrimony to Mr. Robert Alston. Their union was blessed with five children.

Surviving are her husband, Robert Alston, Murrells Inlet, SC; her children, James Alston, and Steve Alston, Murrells Inlet, SC, Marie Hawkins, Conway, SC, Shelia Davis, Lexington Park, MD; step-daughter, Deloris Greene, Newport News, VA; her siblings, Mary J. Holmes, Myrtle Beach, SC, JoAnn Gary, Murrells Inlet, SC, Theresa Deas, Pawleys Island, SC, Jack Mazyck, Florence, SC, Benjamin Mazyck, Washington, DC, Isaac Mazyck, Alexandra, VA, Thelma Brown, Baltimore, MD, Lula Washington, Jacksonville, NC. Services entrusted to Wilds Funeral Home, LLC.
