Mary Thomas Obituary

Mary Ann Thomas, 77, wife of A. Jeffery Thomas, of Beaufort, SC, died Thursday, August 14, 2025 at her residence. The family will receive friends at Anderson Funeral Home from 2-4 pm on Thursday, August 21, 2025. Mary Ann was born on August 11, 1948 in Columbus, Ohio. She is the daughter of the late James Nolan and Mary Jane McCann Nolan. After graduating from Ohio State University and a high-powered sales consultant and sales management career with major computer technology companies in Atlanta, GA. Mary Ann moved to Beaufort, South Carolina in 2005 as the co-owner of the Cuthbert House Inn, a 10-room bed and breakfast hotel on Bay Street. While running a successful and award-winning INN, she supported several community endeavors including early support for the Beaufort Film Festival. She was a community leader as a member of the Board of Directors of Main Street Beaufort, the downtown retail association. Additionally, Mary Ann was a member of the city accommodation tax appropriations committee and as a cancer survivor, she was a founder of Dragon Boat Beaufort. Mary Ann and her husband Jeff retired to Celadon on Lady's Island in 2016. With as much energy as running an Inn, in retirement, she and Jeff travelled extensively throughout the US, Europe and a trip to Tanzania to balloon over the Serengeti plains. She has a great love for her son Austin and daughter-in-law Kristi and enjoyed the antics of her two grandchildren, Brooks and Jack. Mary Ann truly was a friend of so many who crossed her path in so many different venues and as a hotel owner and social hour conversationist. She will be missed. Surviving in addition to her husband, Jeff; is one son, Jeffrey Austin Solem (Austin) and wife Kristi Solem; two brothers, Steven (Steve) Nolan and Thomas (Tom) Nolan; two grandchildren, Brooks and Jack Solem. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, James (Jim) Nolan.
