Mary Thaler Obituary

Mary Elizabeth Thaler, 84, died March 7, 2026 in Hilton Head, S.C. Mary Beth was born and raised in Monmouth County, N.J., having lived in Fair Haven and Rumson, before moving to Vero Beach, Fla., with her parents. In her youth, Mary Beth was a gifted pianist and excellent student; she attended Sickles Elementary, Lafayette Street School and Rumson High School. She enjoyed travel to Europe with family and was an enthusiastic swimmer and diver. Mary Beth was predeceased by her parents, Robert Thaler and Eleanore B. Thaler; her sister, Anne T. Shanley, and a brother. She is survived by her sister, Eleanor T. O'Sullivan, S.C., her nephews Elliott Shanley and Shane Shanley, both of Monmouth County; her cousin Cathleen Whitteaker, and other nephews and nieces. Mary Beth is remembered as a gentle and engaging person who liked to laugh and who appreciated the kindness of others. She will be greatly missed.
