Mary Burgess Obituary

Mary Ethel Alston Burgess died on April 23, 2019 in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Funeral services were held on April 29, 2019 at Sandy Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Reverend Fred W. Johnson, pastor.

Mrs. Burgess was on December 6, 1947 in Georgetown, SC, to Mr. Thomas Alston (now deceased) and Mrs. Juanita Burroughs Alston. Mary attended Georgetown County public schools , where she graduated from high school.

On October 26, 1968, she married Mr. Wesley Burgess. Their union was blessed with the births of four children.

For over fifty years, Mary was a faithful member and servant of Sandy Grove Missionary Baptist Church. She was highly skilled in reupholstering furniture and served as a domestic home care giver for over forty years.

Surviving are her mother, Mrs. Juanita Alston, Myrtle Beach, SC; her husband, Wesley Burgess, Myrtle Beach, SC; four children, Lisa, Fredericksburg, VA, Rainey (Rose), Upper Marlboro, MD, Steven, Myrtle Beach, SC, and Jonathan (Carol), Stafford, VA; two step-children, Venessia and Warren (Sherry) Page of Myrtle Beach, SC. Funeral services entrusted to Wilds Funeral Home, LLC.
