Martha Aklin Obituary

Mrs. Martha Hutchinson Aklin, 92, died on December 11, 2017 at her residence. Funeral services were held on December 16, 2017 at Trinity African Methodist Episcopal Church, conducted by Reverend Patrick L. Staggers, pastor.

Mrs. Aklin was born on March 22, 1925 in Georgetown County, SC, to Mr. and Mrs. Salter and Nezzia Hutchinson. She was educated in the schools of Georgetown County, and was formerly employed for many years with New Way Laundromat. At an early age, she joined Trinity A.M.E. Church, where she served faithfully until her health failed. She was united in marriage to Mr. Coid Aklin. Together, they shared love, life, and the births and rearing of thirteen children. She also raised many of her grandchildren.

Surviving are her children, Ipana Scott, Jeanette Aklin, Jobie Aklin and Matthew Aklin, all of Hemingway, SC, Hope Aklin of Dunn, NC,Cathy Aklin and Hilda Aklin, both of Burlington, NC, Elaine Joseph, Emma Coleman, and Perry Aklin all of Bridgeport, CT, Jerald Aklin of Hamden, CT, Willie Aklin of Westhaven, CT, and Hoyte Aklin of Brooklyn, NY; one sister, Ella Mae Butler of Philadelphia, PA. Funeral services entrusted to Wilds Funeral Home, LLC.
