Marcia Lindstrom Obituary

Marcia Ann (Carroll) Lindstrom, 86, formerly of Attleboro, MA, passed away among friends at Indigo Pines on Hilton Head Island on October 14, 2025: the 4th anniversary of her daughter Ann Marie's passing. Marcia was born in Massapequa, NY on November 7, 1938, the daughter of Charles and Clarice (Sasso) Carroll. She was raised on Long Island, attended Sacred Heart Academy in Hempstead, NY, and went to Boston to continue her education. It was at her Boston College dorm on 1750 Beacon Street that she met her lifelong friends who have stayed in touch for over 60 years through phone calls, letters, emails and gatherings in New Hampshire. The "1750 Beacon Street girls" also introduced her to an introverted, slightly shy Air Force Lieutenant who had no idea what he was getting into when he offered her a 5-hour ride home to New York, but was probably relieved that there could be no awkward silences on any trip with Marcia. She married that Air Force officer in October, 1960 and for the next 55 years together, they proceeded to raise a family of five active and involved children. Marcia enjoyed people, whether she knew them or not. She showed this by being active in the Newcomer's Club/Welcome Wagon of Attleboro, the League of Women Voters, and many other clubs and committees in Attleboro and Hilton Head. For over a decade her Christmas Eve parties on Claire Drive fostered warm and lasting friendships. Marcia had an adventurous spirit and enjoyed being on-the-go, whether it was traveling solo with a group of strangers ("future friends") to Europe in her early twenties, driving up and down I-95 between Attleboro and Hilton Head on a regular basis, or simply shuttling her kids around for their many activities and events. She seldom rested and had friends wherever she went, making new ones along the way. Marcia's warmth, generosity and joyful spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Marcia was preceded in death by her husband, Philip and her daughter, Ann Marie. She is survived by her son-in-law Ralph Clark and her children Susan Mathews (Paul), Paul (Kathy), Peter (Kate), and Glen (Jennifer). She had 12 grandchildren who she kept well-dressed in Gymboree clothing: Mathew Clark; Julianne and Charlie Mathews; Kendall, Casey, Stephen, and Shane Lindstrom; Nicholas, Daniel, and Sara Lindstrom; and Kiana (Roylance) and Elias Lindstrom. She also had 3 great-grandchildren, Pia and George Lindstrom; and Carson Roylance. She amazingly always remembered everyone's birthday. She also enjoyed and embraced her numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. She is survived by her sisters, Patricia Rogers, Brenda Patterson and her brother Charles Carroll, and preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Elizabeth Lambui, Frances Carroll, and Antoinette Donoghue. The funeral mass will be 10:00 am on Thursday, October 30, 2025 at St. Francis By-The-Sea Church in Hilton Head, SC. The family will receive friends in the Narthex (Vestibule) of the church from 9:15-10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you help somebody out, hold open the door, or just make someone smile and think of Marcia when you do.
